Prescriptions and Emergency Refills

We understand. Sometimes it’s just impossible to get an immediate appointment with your primary care physician – and it makes it worse when your prescription has run out. We have some ability to renew most prescriptions for a short time in order to keep you in ongoing health.

Rest assured that our providers will be responsive to your prescription needs.

Antibiotics: If a patient is coming in to talk with a provider about a possible infection, it is good to know that we’ll be able to prescribe antibiotics and additional medications. We utilize online prescription delivery to most pharmacies. Our staff will work to complete your prescription needs promptly.

Short-Term Pain Medications: If a patient comes to Family First Urgent Care with an injury such as a slipped disk or severe back pain, we generally can prescribe short-term pain medications. You’ll want to make sure that you list all medications that you are currently taking on your patient forms. It’s a good idea to remember that all scheduled pharmaceuticals will be cleared through the Oklahoma Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in order to confirm that your prescription can be given safely within the state guidelines.

One-Time Maintenance Medications: For patients in need of a maintenance medication because they ran out of refills, the urgent care clinic will most likely not provide full refill, but can write a tempory dose prescription to use until the patient is able to get in touch with a doctor for a full refill. Certain one-time medications might include cholesterol medications, blood pressure medications, and medications to treat diabetes.

Asthma and Allergy Medications: For patients dealing with allergy and asthma flair-ups, we will be able to prescribe appropriate medications. Many allergy medications are now available over the counter. We’re happy to make recommendations on how to best use over the counter medications. Additionally, we can provide a recommendation for a primary care provider or allergy specialist who can help with on-going and daily treatments when appropriate.

Antiviral Medication: Antiviral medications, such as those to treat the flu, are prescriptions that we routinely write for our patients who present with symptoms. Patients who think they have the flu should come for a test as quickly as possible in order for the antiviral medication to work properly. Xofluza and Tamiflu are most productive and best administered on the first day of symptoms.

Medications for Stomach Conditions: We understand that an upset stomach or digestive tract can but your in a stressful situation. Patients who suffer with stomach issues, such as constipation or a stomach virus will find relief in a combination of over the counter remedies and prescription medications.

When in doubt, you can always call our clinic to request information.
